18-year-old Sao Paulo right-back Joao Moreira being monitored by Manchester United
Manchester United are monitoring Sao Paulo youngster Joao Moreira, according to Brazilian outlet Globo (h/t Manchester Evening News). The Red Devils are keeping an eye on the 18-year-old with a future transfer in mind.
The Old Trafford side have been impressed by the Portugal U18 international’s displays for the Brasileirao outfit. As a result, the Manchester-based club are keen on recruiting him further down the line.
Born in Brazil, Moreira has done well for Sao Paulo this season. He has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Morumbi side and has found the back of the net once and assisted two goals.
Currently, United have Diogo Dalot as the number one in the right-back spot. The Portugal international has been in fine form in the current campaign. He has been Erik ten Hag’s first choice throughout his time in the Old Trafford dugout.
The 23-year-old has started in most games for the Red Devils this season. He has featured 20 times for the Manchester-based club in the current campaign, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Dalot has been one of the most improved players in the United squad since the last term. The Portuguese has now cemented his place in the team. But that was not always the case.
For most of the time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was an undisputed starter. However, with the Norwegian manager’s departure, the former Crystal Palace star fell down the pecking order.
However, under Ten Hag, the 25-year-old has rarely been afforded any game time. This season, the England U21 international has played just four minutes for the club.

While Dalot has been solid for us, the gaffer has had to rely on Tyrell Malacia as a makeshift right-back. Thus, it is evident that the Red Devils need to bolster the position. However, for now, Moreira is still young and inexperienced to do a job at the Old Trafford side.
