Manchester United interested in signing the Netherlands and Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries
The Netherlands and Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries is attracting interest from Manchester United, according to Calcio Mercato Web via HITC (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have the 26-year-old on their radar as they look to add reinforcements to the right-back position. And the Old Trafford side are keen to bring the Holland international in the January transfer window.
Dumfries is valued at £43 million by the Nerazzurri. Thus, Erik ten Hag will have to convince the management to spend big on the 26-year-old.
In the short term, United have a striker as a top priority on their list. Thus, will the Red Devils also sign a right-back in the winter window? Only time will tell.
The Holland star signed for the Serie A giants in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, the defender has been a regular member of Simone Inzaghi’s starting lineup.
Dumfries is also capable of playing a bit further up the pitch as a full-back. In the previous campaign, in 33 league appearances for the Italian outfit, the right-back scored five goals and assisted another five.
The 26-year-old is currently with the Netherlands national team in Qatar. In both of the Oranje’s World Cup Group A fixtures against Senegal and Ecuador, the defender has played the full 90 minutes.
United have been using Diogo Dalot in the team regularly. The Portuguese has overtaken Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order. It seems the Dutch manager does not fancy the former Crystal Palace star.

However, Dalot cannot be expected to play every minute this season. Thus, the Red Devils evidently need someone to provide competition for the 23-year-old. But it remains to be seen whether Dumfries leaves Inter in the upcoming transfer window.
