Christian Eriksen advises Manchester United loanee Hannibal Mejbri to enjoy maiden World Cup with Tunisia
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has advised Hannibal Mejbri, who is currently on loan at Birmingham City from the Red Devils, to enjoy his maiden World Cup with Tunisia.
The 19-year-old joined the Championship outfit in the recent transfer window on a temporary deal for a season. And the midfielder has been called up by the Carthage Eagles to represent them in Qatar.
Speaking on the club’s official website (h/t Manchester Evening News), Eriksen was asked whether he had any counsel for Mejbri. And the 30-year-old told the youngster to cherish his moments on the pitch during the World Cup.
“Yeah, enjoy it, I mean it’s not often there is a World Cup so just being there is special and then, of course, getting all the minutes you can on the pitch. It’s very different being there compared to when you actually play at a World Cup. So really enjoy the moment.”
The former Tottenham Hotspur star joined the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2022 as a free agent. Before moving to Manchester, he had a fruitful short stint with Brentford in the Premier League in the previous campaign.
Eriksen will evidently try to get his hands on the golden trophy in Qatar with Denmark. The prestigious tournament in the Middle East will mark the 30-year-old’s third at it.
He previously featured for the Red and Whites in the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa and in 2018 in Russia. They will compete with France and Australia in Group D.
Interestingly, Mejbri and Eriksen will come up against each other in their respective nation’s opening fixture in Qatar. Denmark will face Tunisia on 22 November at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.
The 19-year-old joined United in the summer of 2019 from AS Monaco. However, he has mainly played for the Red Devils’ youth teams. And the midfielder made his way up the ranks quickly.
