Juventus seeking to steal a march on Manchester United linked Serie A superstar in January

Juventus plotting January move for Lazio star and long-standing Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic Savic, who has been a target for Manchester United for a long time, is being linked with a move to Juventus, according to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Express).

The Old Lady are interested in a January move for the Serbia international. They are willing to pay the Biancocelesti £43.6 million for the 27-year-old.

Juventus manager Massimilano Allegri is keen on reinforcing his squad’s midfield. And Milinkovic-Savic is someone the Bianconeri are looking at.

The Serbian’s current contract at Lazio expires in the summer of 2024. And the midfielder has paused negotiations on a new deal with the club based in Rome until after the World Cup.

At the Biancocelesti this season, the 27-year-old has continued his fine form. In 20 appearances in all competitions for Lazio, the number 21 has scored five goals and provided seven assists.

Dragan Stojković has selected Milinkovic Savic in his squad that will fly to Qatar. Serbia are in Group G in the World Cup and will take on Brazil, Cameroon and Switzerland.

United bolstered their engine room in the summer of 2022 with the addition of Christina Eriksen and Casemiro. And the Denmark and Brazil internationals have had an immediate impact in Manchester.

Eriksen has been a key player for Erik ten Hag from the start of his reign in the Old Trafford dugout. It took a bit of time for Casemiro to settle in. However, the former Real Madrid star has shown his qualities in recent months.

However, Milinkovic-Savic is a quality midfielder. And most United fans would not mind seeing the Serbian move to Manchester and add strength in depth to our squad. But whether Juventus are able to sign him in January remains to be seen.
