Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine forward Mykhaylo Mudryk being monitored by Manchester United
Manchester United are monitoring Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk, with the club sending scouts to keep an eye on the Ukraine international, according to The Sun.
Erik ten Hag has been keen on the 21-year-old since his days managing Ajax. However, the club from Ukraine are reluctant to let go of their winger. And his club will demand a substantial fee for a transfer.
Premier League rivals Arsenal are also interested in Mudryk’s signature. Thus, it remains to be seen which club gets him. However, it is improbable that the Red Devils will pursue the forward in the January transfer window.
Who is Mykhaylo Mudryk?
The 21-year-old came up through Shakhtar’s youth teams and made his club debut in October 2018. In the Ukrainian Cup, the forward came on to play his first minutes against Olimpik Donetsk in a 3-2 victory.
Mudryk spent some time on loan at Arsenal Kyiv and Desna Chernihiv. And in the previous campaign, the youngster broke into the Donetsk-based club’s first team.
In 19 appearances in all competitions last season, the 21-year-old found the back of the net two times and provided nine assists. However, the forward has taken his game to the next level in the 2021/22 campaign.
Mudryk has mainly played on the left wing under Igor Jovicevic this term. In 16 appearances in all competitions for Shakhtar, the 21-year-old has scored eight goals and set up his teammates eight times.
United bolstered the forward line in the recent transfer window with the addition of Antony. And the Brazilian has been a constant on our right wing. However, Jadon Sancho has failed to cement his place on the left-hand side of the attack.
Alejandro Garnacho has been impressive in recent weeks. However, the Argentine is still young and developing. On the other hand, Marcus Rashford has been deployed in the centre-forward role by Ten Hag for most of the campaign.
