Jose Mourinho considering reuniting with Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo at AS Roma
AS Roma are considering reuniting Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo with Jose Mourinho in Italy, according to Italian outlet La Repubblica (h/t Daily Star).
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the Portugal international criticised the Red Devils. The 37-year-old claimed that he felt betrayed. And the five-time Ballon d’Or winner also took aim at Erik ten Hag, stating he had “no respect” for the gaffer.
If United were to part ways with Ronaldo in the winter window, the side from Rome have emerged as a potential destination. The Serie A club are weighing up a move for the Portuguese star.
Mourinho took charge of Roma last season. And the Portuguese manager has been decent in managing the Italian outfit. The Giallorossi won the Europa Conference League in the previous campaign.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has previously played under Mourinho at Real Madrid. The former Chelsea manager spent three years in the Spanish capital with Ronaldo leading the line.
From the Premier League, the Blues are once again being tipped as a destination for the 37-year-old. The Stamford Bridge side wanted the forward in the recent transfer window. However, Thomas Tuchel had opted against his signature.
Ronaldo has fallen down the pecking order at United this season under Ten Hag. The Dutch manager has preferred other options ahead of the Portugal international.
As a result, the 37-year-old has found game time hard to come by this term. He has also struggled to find the back of the net regularly. The forward has started just four games for the Old Trafford side in the 2022/23 season.

At this point, it seems wise for the club to cut their losses and end the drama. We should let Ronaldo leave in January and find a suitable replacement for the forward line.
