Bruno Fernandes delighted with Alejandro Garnacho after late winner for Manchester United vs Fulham
Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes is delighted with Alejandro Garnacho after his late winner against Fulham. The Red Devils took on the Cottagers in the Premier League on Sunday (13 November).
Christina Eriksen opened the scoring at the Craven Cottage, his first goal in a United shirt, in the 14th minute. After that, the Old Trafford side created a few more chances. However, we were unable to extend our advantage.
After going into the break with a one-goal advantage, the Red Devils had a fast start to the second half. Then, however, Fulham got on the front foot as well. And Marco Silva’s side were denied by David de Gea on a few occasions.
Unfortunately, the Cottagers equalised at the hour mark through former United star Daniel James. And both teams created a few opportunities to get the three points in the bag.
Thankfully, it was Garnacho who found the back of the net in the 93rd minute for the Old Trafford side. The Argentine international came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute in place of Anthony Martial and made his mark.
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News) after the 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage, Fernandes has been impressed with the 18-year-old’s character coming off the bench in recent weeks.
“If you’re young or old, it doesn’t matter, nobody likes to be on the bench, so the attitude that he has when he comes off the bench has been fantastic. I think he deserves the chances he’s getting and his goals are the rewards. That’s what football is about.”
Garnacho has been in fine form for the Red Devils. In the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa, the 18-year-old similarly came off the bench and changed the game for us.
The Argentine provided two assists against the Lions to lead United to a 4-2 victory. He has brought energy and directness to our attack. The youngster has taken the chances Erik ten Hag has given him with both hands.
