Manchester United ask for information on Inter Milan full-back and Holland international Denzel Dumfries
Manchester United have asked for information about Inter Milan full-back and Holland international Denzel Dumfries, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the 26-year-old’s signature. Currently, the Nerazzurri could demand £35 million to part ways with their defender.
However, Dumfries is expected to showcase his talent in Qatar under Louis van Gaal. And if the Holland international performs well with his national side during the World Cup, the Serie A giants may push up their asking price.
The 26-year-old joined Inter in the summer of 2021 from Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven. Since then, he has become an essential player for Simone Inzaghi at the Nerazzurri.
Dumfries has mostly played in the right-wing-back role for the Italian outfit. And this season, the Serie A outfit surprised everyone as they pipped Barcelona in the Champions League group stages to book their place in the knockout rounds.
At United, Diogo Dalot has occupied the right-back position in the current campaign. Erik ten Hag has preferred the Portugal international over other options such as Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The former Crystal Palace star has had a torrid few months in Manchester. He has not played for the Red Devils on a regular basis since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from the Old Trafford dugout.
Wan-Bissaka has been relatively anonymous. Unfortunately, his injury has not helped his cause either, keeping the defender on the sidelines for an extensive period. Thus, Dalot has had to shoulder the burden in the starting lineup.

The 23-year-old has started in every game for United this season. However, with the World Cup and a congested campaign ahead of us, squad depth is going to be critical. And some fans feel Wan-Bissaka should leave the club in January to make way for someone like Dumfries.
