Tottenham Hotspur join Manchester United in race for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons
Manchester United have been joined by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Football Insider (h/t MEN) claims the Red Devils are interested in acquiring the 22-year-old signature. And now, the Old Trafford side will have to battle it out with Spurs for the Canaries defender.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has fallen out of favour at United. The 24-year-old has got just four minutes of competitive football under his belt this season.
The former Crystal Palace star was a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian head coach preferred the England U21 international over other options in the squad.
However, with Ole’s departure in the previous campaign, Wan-Bissaka lost his place in the team. The 24-year-old was pipped by Diogo Dalot in the pecking order.
Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick gave the Portugal international opportunities in the side. And while he did nothing special last season, the former FC Porto man has seemingly done enough to convince Erik ten Hag.
Dalot has started in every game for the Red Devils in the current campaign. Some fans feel the 23-year-old has been the most improved player in the squad since the 2021/22 season.
Aarons has been at Norwich for all of his senior career. The 22-year-old has been one of their standout players over the years. And the England U21 international has been a regular for the Canaries in the Championship and the Premier League.

Dalot has, up until now, had no one to compete with and offer him back-up. However, with a long campaign ahead, it would be wise for United to reinforce the right-back spot. Whether Aarons is the chosen one remains to be seen.
