Atletico Madrid loan demands for Portugal forward Joao Felix could 'put off' Manchester United.

Manchester United are set to submit an offer to Atletico Madrid for Portugal international Joao Felix in a ‘matter of weeks’, according to Spanish outlet Cadena Ser (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The 23-year-old has had a falling out with Los Rojiblancos’ current boss Diego Simeone. And the youngster could force a move in the upcoming transfer window due to his reduced role in the team.

Felix joined Atletico in the summer of 2019 from SL Benfica. With the Primeira Liga outfit, he had shown much promise in scoring and assisting goals.

While it did take the youngster time to settle in Madrid, he made a place for himself in the Argentine manager’s plans. However, the 23-year-old has lost his place in the team this season.

The Portugal international has not started for Los Rojiblancos in La Liga since their loss to city rivals Real Madrid in September. He was also not a regular part of Atletico’s Champions League group-stage campaign either.

Felix’s form in front of goal has not been the best either. In the 2022/23 season, the 23-year-old has featured in 17 games for the Madrid-based club. He has found the back of the net three times and given three assists.

United evidently have their own issues going forward. The Red Devils have scored just 18 goals in 13 Premier League fixtures this campaign. Our defence has not helped either. As a result, we currently have a negative goal difference in the English top flight.

Marcus Rashford is the only forward the Old Trafford side have who has found the back of the net regularly under Erik ten Hag. However, some fans feel the 25-year-old is not clinical enough to lead our line in the long term.

Thus, reinforcements are seemingly needed to spruce up United’s creativity and conversion rate up front. However, Felix has not shown his talent at Atletico for the Red Devils to take a gamble on him.
