Martin Terrier price set at around £40 million by Stade Rennais amidst links to Manchester United
Manchester United will have to pay around £40 million to capture the signature of Stade Rennais forward Martin Terrier, according to Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The French national is attracting interest from several sides across Europe, including the Premier League. Leeds United and Newcastle United are among the clubs from the English top flight the Red Devils will have to compete with to sign the 25-year-old.
Terrier’s current contract with Rennes runs until 2026. And over the years, the forward has gone from strength to strength in Ligue 1.
Initially, the 25-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at LOSC Lille. The French national then signed for Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2018. However, after two underwhelming seasons with Les Gones, he was allowed to leave for the Brittany-based club.
With Rennes, Terries took a bit of time to get settled in. However, the forward came into his own in the previous campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing seven assists in 46 appearances for Les Rouge et Noir in all competitions.
And the 25-year-old has continued in a similar vein this season. He has been prolific for Rennes in Ligue 1 and has helped them qualify from the group stages of the Europa League.
Man United have several options up front. However, we seem to be short on a number nine, with Anthony Martial on the sidelines mostly. Erik ten Hag has preferred deploying Marcus Rashford as the centre-forward. The 25-year-old has pipped Cristiano Ronaldo to a starting berth.
The Portugal international has been getting a run of games in recent weeks. But the 37-year-old had initially found it difficult to break into the Dutch manager’s plans, spending most of his time on the bench.

Terrier is a versatile forward. While he has mostly been deployed on the left wing in his career, the 25-year-old is also capable of playing through the middle. Thus, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will opt to pursue his signing.
