RB Leipzig and Spain playmaker Dani Olmo being linked with move to Manchester United
Manchester United have been linked with a move for RB Leipzig and Spain attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Bundesliga outfit expires at the end of the 2023/24 season. Thus, the Red Bull Arena side could be keen on cashing in on the playmaker.
However, Olmo has turned the heads of many top clubs around Europe. Premier League rivals Manchester City are also keeping an eye on him. Therefore, the Red Devils will have to contend with a lot of competition to capture the Spaniard’s signature.
Olmo signed for Leipzig in the January window of 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb. Since then, the 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength and has even broken into the Spain national side. He was a key player for La Furia Roja in their run to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
The Barcelona youth academy product is a versatile player capable of playing in multiple positions. However, the Spaniard mostly plays in the number 10 role.
Olmo has been in fine form for the Bundesliga outfit this term. He has featured in 11 games for Die Roten Bullen this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
At United, the forward line is stacked. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony have all played a significant role in the current campaign. The trio have played the majority of the minutes for the team under Erik ten Hag.
However, what we do seem to lack is a number nine. Cristiano Ronaldo has not started a lot under the Dutch manager. On the other hand, Anthony Martial has been on the sidelines for most of the season.

Thus, Olmo would have a lot of competition to stake a place in the United string lineup, especially with Bruno Fernandes cementing his place in the number 10 position. Thus, whether the Red Devils will pursue the Spaniard in the coming transfer windows remains to be seen.
