Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham ‘top transfer target’ for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has set his sights on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham and made him the ‘top transfer target’, according to The Mirror.
The Red Devils tried to sign the 19-year-old from Birmingham City. However, he instead made his way to the Bundesliga. In Germany, the youngster has thrived and he is now rated at £100 million.
The Old Trafford side once again have an eye on the England international and have revived their interest in him. However, other top clubs around Europe, like Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid, are also keen on the BVB star.
Ten Hag has been assured of funds to take the Manchester-based club back to the mantle they were once on. And the Dutch manager has had meetings with the director of football, John Murtough, to pick out targets for next summer.
Bellingham is at the top of their list. However, the Red Devils know they have to qualify for next season’s Champions League to have any chance of signing him.
Ten Hag and the club spent most of the recent transfer window pursuing Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong. The 25-year-old had played under the Dutch manager at Ajax. However, the Old Trafford side have now turned their attention to the Dortmund midfielder.
The 19-year-old has had an impressive campaign with BVB this season, especially in the UCL. The German outfit have qualified for the knockout rounds of the competition and the midfielder played a vital part in their progression.
United ended up signing Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the summer of 2022. Fortunately, both midfielders have hit the ground running in Manchester.
