Edgardo Lasalvia looking for January move for client Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United
Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri could be on his way out of the club in January. The 20-year-old’s agent Edgardo Lasalvia is looking for an exit for his client, according to ESPN Uruguay (h/t Metro).
Pellistri signed for the Red Devils from Uruguayan outfit Penarol. After featuring for the club’s youth team, he spent two loan spells with Deportivo Alaves. And after picking up an injury in the summer of 2022, the 20-year-old remained in Manchester.
Speaking to ESPN, the Uruguayan international’s representative has confirmed that a move away from Old Trafford is “imminent”. Lasalvia is hoping to use the World Cup as a springboard for the winger to showcase his talent.
“I think that with a good World Cup – which we believe he will have – his departure is imminent.”
While Pellistri has not featured for United in the current campaign, he has played regularly for his national side. The 20-year-old has seven caps for Uruguay—all received in 2022.
The South American nation are in Group H at the World Cup in Qatar, which is set to commence in a few weeks’ time. La Celeste are set to take on Portugal, Ghana and South Korea to qualify for the next round.
For the young forward, a chance to feature for the Old Trafford side is challenging. The former Penarol star has a lot of competition ahead of him to get an opportunity.
United’s forward line has decent quality on the wings. Jadon Sancho and Antony have featured regularly on the left and right of the attack, respectively. Erik ten Hag has especially trusted the Brazilian to be in his starting lineup.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are also capable of playing out wide. Although, the England international has played as a centre forward most often under the Dutch manager. On the other hand, the France international has been unavailable for most of the season.
