The 24-year-old met the cross from Christian Eriksen in the 38th minute to give his side the lead. While both sides would then create chances throughout the game, the England international’s goal was enough to seal all three points for his side.
Erik ten Hag will be happy with the win and the determination his team showed to achieve the result. The Red Devils are now unbeaten in their past seven games in all competitions.
Rashford has had a great start to this season. His goal against the Hammers was his third in the league and sixth in all competitions. He has already beaten his total of five from injury-hit last season.
This was his 315th appearance for his boyhood club and the forward is only the 10th homegrown player to hit the triple numbers in front of goal. He has joined the lists of greats like Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes to name a few.
His favourite opponents have been Liverpool and Leicester City against whom he has scored six times each. It is an impressive performance to reach and Gareth Southgate, who was in the stands, will now likely select the forward to travel to Qatar for the World Cup next month.
Fans will hope the 24-year-old can score in his third consecutive game in all competitions when their side travel to face Real Sociedad for their final group-stage game in the Europa League.
United have secured qualification to the next round, but a win will allow them to finish equal on points with the Spanish side.

For Rashford, these games will provide him with a chance to show the management that he has what it takes to be a long-term centre-forward option for the club. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s career gradually coming to an end, United would undoubtedly be looking for a long-term addition in that position.
