Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United examining how to improve in the January transfer window

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that the club are examining how to improve the team in the January transfer window. The Dutch manager reveals the club continues to work behind the scenes and work on the squad.

Ten Hag arrived at the club at the end of last season. The hierarchy added six new faces in the summer of 2022 to the new gaffers squad. However, the Red Devils evidently need to do more work in the coming future.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag was adamant that the Old Trafford side constantly look to upgrade the team.

“In this moment, also last week, we focus on the games. In the background, we always continue a process, working on the squad, so we want to have top sport culture and you see and examine how you can improve and that’s what we will do.”

Almost all of United’s signings from the recent transfer window have worked out perfectly for the Red Devils. Apart from Martin Dubravka, who has not played yet, the rest of the additions have made an impact in the team.

Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen have been trusted by Ten Hag from the start of the campaign. And the two have showcased their qualities and made a difference in the team.

Tyrell Malacia has also done a good job challenging Luke Shaw for a place in the starting lineup. And the competition has seemingly stirred the 27-year-old to find his best form.

Brazilian compatriots Antony and Casemiro have also influenced the team with their energy and mentality. The duo have been involved in critical moments for us in recent weeks.

While United have done well in the Dutch manager’s first transfer window, historically, the club have been underwhelming in the market.

However, now is the time for the Red Devils to build on the recent success in the market. There is still evidently a lot more the hierarchy need to do to strengthen the side, as was evident against Manchester City.

January 2022 saw zero incomings at United. Will the club change that this coming winter? Only time will tell.
