Kevin Campbell urges Arsenal to pounce on Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford
Arsenal icon Kevin Campbell has urged the Gunners to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford to bolster their frontline. The former striker feels the 24-year-old has the characteristics that the North Londoners need.
The England international’s current contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season. Therefore, the forward will be available on a free transfer next summer.
And speaking to Football Insider (h/t Daily Mail), Campbell feels that with United hesitating in extending Rashford’s deal, Arsenal should pounce on the forward’s signature.
“He [Rashford] ticks some really good boxes for Arsenal.
“On the counter attack, he can be devastating. He undone Arsenal at Old Trafford earlier this season with his speed. Rashford can be devastating on his day, we know that.
“Manchester United are dithering by the sounds of it. I’m sure Arsenal would go for him if he became available next summer.”
The 24-year-old came up through the youth ranks at United and established himself in the first team at a young age. In the 2019/20 campaign, the England international had his best season in a red shirt.
Unfortunately, since then, Rashford had been unable to build on his success. Fans have felt the forward’s development has stagnated. The 24-year-old was underwhelming in the previous campaign for the Red Devils.
The England international was one of the players to miss a spot kick for the Three Lions in the Euro 2020 final against Italy in the penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium. And subsequently, the United academy graduate seemed to have lost his confidence.
Last season, Rashford had one of his worst spells in a red shirt. In 32 appearances in all competitions, he scored just five goals and provided two assists. The 24-year-old lacked the cutting edge whenever he featured.

However, the England international has managed to find his feet under Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager has preferred the forward over Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting lineup.
There are still a lot of things supporters feel the youngster can improve in his game. However, United should extend the youth product’s contract and count on Rashford to be the face of the club for many years to come.
