Chelsea preparing to offer close to £90 million for Manchester United midfield target Jude Bellingham
Chelsea are willing to offer close to £90 million for Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Manchester United target Jude Bellingham, according to Bild via Sport Witness (h/t The Sun).
The Blues have taken a surprise lead in the race for the 19-year-old’s signature. Chelsea manager Graham Potter sees the England international as a “dream player”.
While the North London side are willing to offer a hefty sum, Dortmund will look to hold out for £105 million. However, the Blues will face competition from within the Premier League from the likes of the Red Devils, Liverpool and Manchester City.
United lost a number of midfielders in the recent transfer window. Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and James Garner were some of the players that departed in the summer of 2022.
The Old Trafford side ended up reinforcing the squad with the addition of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. And the duo have evidently strengthened Erik ten Hag’s engine room.
Other options at the Dutch manager’s disposal include the likes of Scott McTominay, Fred and Donny van de Beek. However, the trio have not convinced fans during their time at the club and Bellingham could be seen as an upgrade on them – if we do manage to get him.
The number 10 role in the side is occupied by Bruno Fernandes. Since his arrival from Sporting CP in January 2020, the Portuguese has been one of the best players for the Red Devils.
United’s most expensive signing in the club’s history has been Pogba. The French midfielder was signed from Juventus in 2016 for £93.2 million. However, the 29-year-old left the Manchester-based club for free and rejoined the Old Lady at the end of his contract in the recent summer window.
