17-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper Tarik Karic training with Manchester United
Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper Tarik Karic is currently training with Manchester United. The Red Devils’ scouts had sent a request to his club Zeljeznicar and the 17-year-old has subsequently flown to England, according to Reprezentacija (h/t Express).
Karic made his way to Manchester earlier this week to work with the coaches at United. The Red Devils will assess the Bosnian’s abilities and potential.
The 17-year-old has garnered seven caps for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U17 side. The young shot-stopper has also represented his country in the U18 and U19 teams.
Currently, United’s number one in between the sticks is David de Gea. The Spaniard signed for the Red Devils in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has since been a regular in the team.
However, De Gea did have a little blip in his United career after the 2018 World Cup. The 31-year-old was prone to a number of errors for some time as he looked short of confidence.
And fans thought De Gea’s career was on its final legs a few seasons back. Dean Henderson returned from a fruitful loan spell in the 2020/21 season and shared minutes with the Spaniard in goal.
The England international seemed to be in line to replace De Gea. However, the Spaniard has persisted and taken his number one spot back. Subsequently, Henderson joined Nottingham Forest in the recent transfer window.
Erik ten Hag also has Martin Dubravka and Tom Heaton as options for the goalkeeping position in the side. However, the Dutch manager has kept faith in De Gea, even after his shaky start to the season.

Karic is a highly thought of youngster. However, it remains to be seen whether the 17-year-old lives up to his potential and one day stake a claim in between the sticks at United.
