Marcus Rashford reveals Erik ten Hag instructed Manchester United to be more dynamic vs Omonia Nicosia
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag instructed the team to “be more dynamic” as Marcus Rashford came on as a substitute after half-time. The Red Devils were down by one goal going into the break.
The 24-year-old was brought on to replace Jadon Sancho. Luke Shaw also came off the bench as Tyrell Malacia was hooked off after 45 minutes. In the end, the Old Trafford side managed to get the job done and the three points.
Speaking to BT Sport after the 3-2 victory over the team from Cyprus via Manchester Evening News, Rashford revealed that during the half-time team talk, the gaffer wanted the players to be more threatening.
“When he [Ten Hag] made the subs, he wanted us to be more dynamic, take our chances going forward and to try score goals. When you’re 1-0 behind, that’s what you need to do, so it was positive changes at half-time.”
Ten Hag’s changes had the desired impact on the game. The United academy graduate scored the equaliser in the 53rd minute. The Dutch manager also brought on Anthony Martial in the 62nd minute for Bruno Fernandes.
And a few seconds later, the French forward scored to put the visitors a goal up. Lisandro Martinez played a brilliant through ball to Rashford, who set up the 26-year-old.
The England international got his brace in the 84th minute to give the Red Devils a two-goal lead. And Rashford’s goal was vital as Neil Lennon’s team pegged one back about a minute later.

United have now won two of their three UEFA Europa League fixtures. As a result, we sit second in the group table behind Real Sociedad. The Spanish outfit beat us 1-0 in the first game.
