Cristiano Ronaldo will attempt to leave Manchester United once again in January after summer 2022 move denied

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to attempt to once again leave the club in January, according to ESPN FC on Twitter. The Red Devils are preparing themselves for the 37-year-old’s wish to depart.

Ronaldo has been exceptional around the training ground since realising he would not get a move in the recent transfer window. However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is still keen on leaving the Old Trafford side.

Since not being given his move in the summer of 2022, Ronaldo has started just one game in the Premier League. And while Erik ten Hag is understanding of the situation, the Dutch manager is reluctant to see the 37-year-old leave this season.

Ronaldo made his way back to United after having left in 2009 for Real Madrid. The Portuguese made his homecoming from Juventus. And the 37-year-old did not disappoint, finishing his first season back as the top goalscorer in all competitions for the Old Trafford side.

Unfortunately, United were not at their best in the 2021/22 campaign. Apart from Ronaldo, none of our attackers managed to make a considerable impact. The Red Devils finished outside the top four in the league.

Subsequently, Ronaldo missed most of the preseason. And the 37-year-old has since evidently found it hard to get into the gaffer’s plans.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were underwhelming last season. However, under the former Ajax head coach, the English duo seem to have again found their feet. Antony also signed for the Manchester-based club in the recent transfer window.

Ronaldo has made eight appearances for United under Ten Hag. However, the Portuguese has come off the bench on most occasions. And the 37-year-old has scored just once.

Being one of the best players over the last several years, fans are sad to see Ronaldo cutting a dejected figure at United. Whether the Portuguese gets his move in the winter window remains to be seen.

However, it would be wise to allow the 37-year-old to leave gracefully so that his legacy is protected and we can finally move on and plan for the future.
