Dean Jones predicts Everton to receive offer for Jordan Pickford with Manchester United interested
Transfer journalist Dean Jones predicts Everton will “soon” receive an offer for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who Manchester United are interested in. And he feels the England international will have to contemplate his stay in Merseyside.
Pickford joined Everton in the summer of 2017 from Sunderland. The 28-year-old has since developed into a fine professional. However, the Goodison side have been underwhelming over the last few campaigns.
Speaking to GiveMeSport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Jones questions whether Erik ten Hag will want Pickford at United. However, the journalist believes the time is near when an interested club will approach the Toffees for the England international.
“Is he the type of goalkeeper that ten Hag ideally wants? We will have to wait and see. But I do think we’re entering a time when Everton probably will get an offer pretty soon.”
Pickford has established himself in the Premier League over the years. The 28-year-old has been a mainstay between the sticks for Everton over the years.
Pickford has also become a key member of the national side under Gareth Southgate. The 28-year-old has been the preferred choice in goal in the previous two major tournaments.
However, while Pickford has impressed many, Everton are a side that have been on a downward trend. In the previous campaign, the Toffees were fighting relegation and barely avoided the drop into the Championship.
The England international has been one of the better players at the Goodison Park outfit. And Pickford has continued putting in match-saving displays for Everton this season.
David de Gea is currently the No. 1 between the sticks at United. However, fans have doubts about the Spaniard’s long-term future at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old is not the best with the ball at his feet.
