Ruben Neves rejected Liverpool and Manchester United to wait for Barcelona
According to Catalan outlet Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves rejected Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United to wait for a move to Spanish giants Barcelona in the next summer.
One of the best midfield orchestrators in the Premier League at the moment, Neves has been linked with a move away from the Molineux throughout the summer but he eventually ended up staying this season.
It has now emerged that the Portuguese midfielder wants to wait for an offer from Spanish behemoths Barcelona next summer and that is the reason he chose not to move despite offers from both the Red Devils and the Reds.
An unbelievably talented midfielder who knows how to keep it simple and keep the ball moving, Neves came through the Porto academy and impressed at different youth levels before switching to England.
Predominantly a defensive midfielder who can also play in central midfield, the 25-year-old is a very solid presence in the base of the midfield and there is no doubt that he will be a key player for whichever top team he plays for.
Neves will know that Barcelona will have to replace club legend Sergio Busquets very soon with the Spaniard getting on in age and the Portuguese is just the kind of player who will suit the Catalan club in replacing their veteran.
Neves has a contract until 2024 (transfermarkt). He is likely to be available on a bargain deal next summer with just 12 months to go on his contract and there is a chance that the Spanish giants land him for a cheap price.
The Portuguese has a huge career ahead of him. He is likely to make the big move soon and it will be well deserved. The defensive midfielder might want to move to Barcelona and it remains to be seen if the club makes an offer.
