Transfer News: Manchester United made an enquiry for Presnel Kimpembe
According to reports from Le10Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United were among the top European clubs that made an enquiry for talented French centre-back Presnel Kimpembe in the summer but the player decided to stay in Paris.
Kimpembe was linked with a move away from the French capital for much of the summer but eventually ended up staying at the Parc des Princes and has started off the season very well along with Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos in the backline.
Manchester United were looking to sign a new centre-back throughout the transfer window and it has now emerged that Kimpembe was one of the names they were looking at. However, the Red Devils eventually settled for Lisandro Martinez.
The Argentinian defender has settled in very well at Old Trafford and is vindicating Erik ten Hag’s faith in him. However, even if we had gone with Kimpembe, the Frenchman would have been a very solid option.
Kimpembe could still be an option for us in the future as there is a chance that the Red Devils will want to reinforce their defence even more. It remains to be seen if the centre-back wants to leave the French giants though.
A product of the youth academy at PSG, Kimpembe is one of those rare French talents who have made it from the academy into the first team. He is one of the Ligue 1 giants’ most important players and has established himself as a regular for some time now.
