John Murtough states Manchester United focusing their planning around the 2023 summer transfer window

Manchester United honcho John Murtough has stated that the club are directing their efforts at planning around the 2023 summer transfer window.

The Red Devils’ football director has claimed the club have gone beyond what they had planned for in the recent summer transfer window. Erik ten Hag was afforded six fresh faces in his squad.

Speaking on United’s recruitment plans via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Murtough evidently suggests that the upcoming windows will not be as hectic as the recent summer.

United appointed the Dutch manager as the new head coach at the end of last season. The previous campaign was a disappointing one for the Red Devils. First, we parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian was not getting us the appropriate results.

The Manchester-based club appointed Ralf Rangnick as interim boss. However, the German manager was also unable to steer the ship in the right direction. And United parted ways with him at the end of the 2021/22 season.

In the recent summer, a number of players left the Manchester-based club. Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani parted ways with the club at the end of their contracts.

Other important stars from last season, including Dean Henderson, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly, left on loan. Subsequently, the Red Devils evidently needed to add reinforcements.

And Ten Hag got Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Martin Dubravka. Most of the new additions have made an immediate impact in the team.

Murtough has seemingly thwarted any ideas United fans may have had of more additions being made in January. However, it remains to be seen what the club have planned and how they will proceed.
