Transfer News: Manchester United will reignite Victor Osimhen pursuit in January

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United will revive their interest in talented Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the winter transfer window after failing to sign him in the recently concluded window.

The Nigerian forward has been subject of interest from the Premier League club for quite some time now. The Red Devils are desperate to sign a new striker to replace Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in the near future and Osimhen will be a solid option.

The 23-year-old Nigerian has been very impressive for Napoli for quite some time now. One of the most talented strikers in the Serie A in recent years, it comes as no surprise that many clubs want to sign Osimhen.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020. To say that he has been one of the most influential players for the Serie A giants in recent seasons would be an understatement. The 23-year-old has scored a truckload of goals for Luciano Spaletti’s side.

Osimhen has had a pretty solid start to the season playing six games for the Serie A giants scoring two goals and providing one assist across all competitions. Last season, the Nigerian played 32 games for the club scoring 18 goals and providing six assists across all competitions.

The talented forward’s contract with the Serie A club expires in 2025. (transfermarkt). If Manchester United want to sign him, he will definitely not come cheap especially with Napoli in no real rush to sell him immediately.

Osimhen has been solid for Napoli

For much of the summer, it looked like Cristiano Ronaldo will not stay at Manchester United for the current campaign but he finds himself playing at Old Trafford. The Portuguese forward hasn’t really set the stage alight but we all know about the quality he possesses.

However, the former Real Madrid and Juventus star is 37 years old and might not have long left at the top. The Red Devils will be wise in grooming a player for the future who can take things forward once Ronaldo leaves.
