Arsenal gave 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri first-team debut due to interest from Manchester United
Ethan Nwaneri was given a debut by Arsenal as the Gunners are attentive to the interest from Manchester United, according to The Times (h/t Metro).
The 15-year-old came on as a substitute in the 92nd minute for the Gunner against Bretford. Nwaneri replaced Fabio Viera as the North London side triumphed 3-0 over the Bees.
Arsenal were compelled to give the young attacking midfielder his first minutes for the senior side. United and Liverpool are keeping an eye on the 15-year-old. Thus, the Gunners have decided to ‘fast-track’ the prospect’s development.
Nwaneri became the youngest player to feature in an English top-flight game. The 15-year-old has impressed Mikel Arteta with his calmness and composure. And the Arsenal manager feels he needs to entice the attacking midfielder to stay at the Emirates.
United have a host of young talent in their ranks as well. The likes of Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho have come up through the ranks and broken into the first team dynamics.
The Swedish national has especially established himself in the Red Devils’ squad. Elanga came into the fold a lot more in the 2021/22 campaign after other attackers failed to make an impact in the 2021/22 campaign.
Elanga has been a fixture for Erik ten Hag as well. The 20-year-old was given the nod ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in recent weeks before the arrival of Antony.
During pre-season, fans were able to get a glimpse of some other academy talent. Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage showed they have the potential to make it to the top.

Nwaneri is still in his relative infancy regarding his footballing career. The 15-year-old has a long way to go. United have one of the best academies in the country. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are able to pry the youngster from Arsenal.
