Chelsea set to rival Manchester United for the signature of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham
Manchester United are set to be rivalled by Chelsea for the signature of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham next summer, according to The Sun.
The Blues want to be in the mix for the England international alongside the likes of Liverpool. Chelsea manager Graham Potter is a great admirer of the 19-year-old prodigy.
Bellingham’s stock has risen massively over the years. The 19-year-old is one of the key members of the BVB squad. Thus, any club hoping to acquire the England international’s services next season will have to pay upwards of £100 million.
Having joined Dortmund in the summer of 2020 from Birmingham City, Bellingham has quickly adapted to life in the Bundesliga. And the 19-year-old has quickly cemented his place in one of Europe’s most elite clubs.
In the previous two campaigns, Bellingham featured 90 times for the German outfit in all competitions. He scored 10 goals and provided 18 assists in that time.
The 19-year-old has had a fiery start to the new season as well. Bellingham’s recent display against English champions Manchester City in the Champions League was lauded by many fans.
United signed two midfielders in the recent transfer window. However, supporters would not mind a special talent like the Dortmund star making his way to Old Trafford.
In the middle of the park, fans feel the Red Devils could add more quality. Christian Eriksen and Casemiro’s addition has evidently strengthened the squad. But the other options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal have not convinced many of their quality.
