Representatives of Santiago Arias are not in negotiations with Manchester United
Manchester United are not believed to be in talks for Santiago Arias. The representatives of the Colombian are not in any negotiations with the Red Devils, according to journalist Pipe Sierra on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
While the circle of people close to Arias have scepticism around the United links, the player can negotiate on his behalf. The 30-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid.
Arias made his way to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2018 from PSV Eindhoven, where the 30-year-old has spent the majority of his career. However, he failed to establish himself as a first-team regular under Diego Simeone.
The Colombian subsequently went on loan to Bayer Leverkusen for the 2020/21 campaign. However, Arias featured just once for the Bundesliga outfit before being ruled out for the rest of the season due to an injury.
In the previous campaign, the 30-year-old was again loaned out. Arias joined Granada in La Liga. However, a lack of game time and injuries followed the Colombian.
United currently have Diogo Dalot as the regular. The Portuguese has cemented his place in the starting XI since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.
Dalot has started the 2022/23 season on an impressive note. Erik ten Hag has started the Portuguese in every fixture this campaign.
The other option at the gaffer’s disposal is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 24-year-old was the first choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the Norwegian manager’s dismissal has relegated the right-back to the bench.

Arias is a player who would add depth to the squad. Ten Hag does not seem to fancy Wan-Bissaka. Thus, the team evidently needs more bodies with the campaign a long one due to the World Cup in Qatar.
