Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is glad to have a quality player like Antony as his teammate at Old Trafford. The Brazilian is aware of the 22-year-old’s talent, having played with him in the national side.

Casemiro made his way to Manchester from Real Madrid this summer. The signing of his compatriot followed as the Red Devils were able to pry away Antony successfully from Ajax before the recent transfer deadline.

Speaking about the 22-year-old via Metro, the former La Liga superstar feels it is essential to have quality players such as Antony in the squad. Casemiro is of the opinion that United have other talented stars to count on as well.

“I think it’s really important to have such a quality player here [as Antony] with us.

“I knew him from the national team already.

“He’d played with us in Brazil, it’s always important to have players of Antony’s level. Not just him, we have a lot of top-quality players.”

The former Madrid superstar made his debut for United against Southampton in the Premier League, coming in as a substitute. The 30-year-old subsequently made his first start for the Red Devils in the Europa League against Real Sociedad.

Casemiro has looked a bit off the pace. Scott McTominay has kept the Brazilian out of the starting lineup in the league so far with his impressive performances. It will evidently take the 30-year-old time to settle into Erik ten Hag’s system.

Antony has started his United career on the front foot

Antony, on the other hand, has had a blistering start to his career in Manchester. The 22-year-old was immediately chosen to start after his arrival. The Brazilian made his debut against Arsenal and scored the opening goal of the game.

The former Ajax attacker is familiar with the gaffer’s system. Like Lisandro Martinez, Antony tasted success in the Eredivisie under Ten Hag.

Since being beaten in the opening two games of the campaign, the manager has made some big decisions. He has dropped the likes of Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo from the majority of starting lineups.
