Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham slams ‘disrespectful’ speculations amidst Manchester United links
Manchester United have been linked with Jude Bellingham. However, the 19-year-old feels it would be disrespectful to Borussia Dortmund to discuss any of the speculations around his future.
Bellingham signed for the Bundesliga giants in the summer of 2020 from Birmingham City. Since then, the midfielder has developed into one of the biggest talents in world football.
However, Bellingham has slammed the talks about a move away from Germany. Speaking to PA about his future (h/t Manchester Evening News), the 19-year-old shows gratitude to Dortmund and does not feel it is appropriate to say anything on the matter.
“The club has done loads for me, made me feel very welcome and given me the opportunities to develop further. To look past that and into the future would be disrespectful.”
United were one of the clubs looking to get Bellingham’s signature from Birmingham. However, the England international opted to go to Germany. The 19-year-old was again linked with a move this summer. However, it now looks possible that the midfielder will leave Dortmund at the end of the season.
Bellingham has established himself in the Bundesliga and is a regular for Dortmund. The 19-year-old also has 15 caps for the national team.
In the previous campaign, Bellingham featured 44 times for the German outfit in all competitions. The England international scored six goals and provided 14 assists. The 19-year-old has been an essential member of the Dortmund side in the 2022/23 campaign as well.
United lost flair in the middle of the park this summer. However, Christian Eriksen has seemingly fit right into Erik ten Hag’s plans. The Danish national has made the number eight position his own this season.
The Red Devils have also signed a defensive midfielder in Casemiro. The Brazilian had a successful spell at Real Madrid before his move to Manchester. However, both he and Eriksen are in their 30s.

Bellingham is still young and has his whole career ahead of him. The 19-year-old is capable of playing in the pivot position as well as a box-to-box-midfielder. Hopefully, United are able to entice him to join former teammate Jadon Sancho in Manchester.
