Transfer News: Liverpool reignite interest in Ibrahim Sangare after Manchester United’s summer interest
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are said to have reignited their interest in Ibrahim Sangare, who was targeted by Manchester United this summer.
United were interested in the 24-year-old as they looked for a midfielder to improve the department at the club. The Ivory Coast international was on the shortlist, but nothing materialised.
The Red Devils bought in Christian Eriksen and Casemiro as the new faces for their midfield for this season. But now, their rivals have reignited their interest.
Sangare himself was heavily linked with a move away from his current side PSV Eindhoven, but those rumours were put to bed when he signed a new contract with the club. His new deal now runs till 2027.
The defensive midfielder has been enjoying a pretty decent start to this season. He has played a total of 10 games for his side in all competitions, scoring three goals in the process.
Fred and Casemiro were below par in the last game. Erik ten Hag could do with a young and energetic holding midfielder in his ranks but only time will tell if the Dutchman will dip into the market once again for a midfielder next year.
The former Ajax manager settled on Casemiro after it became clear that Frenkie de Jong was going to be too tough to land from Barcelona.
Apart from Liverpool, West Ham United and AC Milan are also said to be interested in the 24-year-old. With the player signing a new contract and interest from various clubs, it remains to be seen if Manchester United themselves reignite their interest in the player in the future.
