Scott McTominay of Manchester United is challenged by Joe Aribo of Southampton.

Christian Eriksen believes Scott McTominay should get more credit at Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen believes that his teammate Scott McTominay deserves huge credit for his role in the club’s form.

The midfielder came under huge scrutiny for his performance in the first two games this season. However, since then the 25-year-old has completely transformed his game.

He has no doubt been pivotal for his side’s rise in form as the club has won their last four league games. Speaking to the official club media (h/t Manchester Evening News), Eriksen believes the Scotland international deserves his share of praise.

“Scott has done very well and I think you can see that from the games. I think in the first few ones we were looking for each other a bit and seeing where we are, but now I think we are starting to get a good connection and a good feeling of where you should be.”

Both the Dane and the Scottish midfielders have formed a formidable partnership in the middle of the park for Erik ten Hag. Their partnership has been one of the reasons for the club’s resurgence from their poor start.

United have won all four games that the duo started in and were poor in the middle of the park when the coach broke up that partnership in their last game against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

Casemiro and Fred struggled to link up with each other despite being national teammates. It was clear that Eriksen and McTominay have formed something special between them.

McTominay has been at the receiving end of both barrels from our fans when things have gone wrong and it is good to see new signing Eriksen back his teammate in such a manner.

Ten Hag would have hoped to start the duo in their next game against Crystal Palace, but that game has now been postponed following the death of The Queen. United are likely to now play Sheriff for their Europa League fixture and the duo is in contention to start that game.

Fans will hope for three points after their disappointing loss last time out. Maybe the charm of the duo will play a key role again in their side’s potential victory in the next game.
