Owen Hargreaves believes Jude Bellingham can change the fortunes of Manchester United
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves recommends the signing of Jude Bellingham to change the fortunes of the Red Devils. The Borussia Dortmund star has been called the “perfect midfielder”.
Bellingham joined the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2020. The former Birmingham City prodigy has become a key member of Dortmund’s team. The 19-year-old has since been one of the best players in Germany.
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Hargreaves, who spent four years at United, is of the opinion that Bellingham could be the catalyst to bringing back success to Manchester.
“He could turn around a club like Manchester United. Get them back to the top. He could carry that with his mentality. Perfect midfielder. Can play for any club. Everyone will want him – Chelsea, Liverpool, United.”
In the previous campaign for Dortmund, the 19-year-old featured in 44 games, scoring six goals and providing 14 assists. Bellingham is also a full England international, having been capped 15 times.
United lost a lot of quality in the middle of the park this summer. Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic were important players for us last season. However, the duo parted ways with the Red Devils after their contracts expired.
The departure of the France international left a hole in the number eight role. Pogba was the player who brought flair to the engine room of The Manchester-based club.
While Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have been added to the squad during the transfer window, the duo are in their 30s. Bellingham, on the other hand, has his whole career ahead of him.

The 19-year-old has developed into a quality box-to-box midfielder in the Bundesliga. The Red Devils seemingly need more creativity in the final third and the Dortmund midfielder is capable of that.
Considering the abilities Bellingham possesses, every top team in Europe evidently has an eye on him. It remains to be seen whether United would be a tempting destination for the 19-year-old in the future.
