Manchester United-linked centre-forward Sasa Kalajdzic set for Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer
Sasa Kalajdzic, who had been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, is set to complete a permanent transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Austrian is close to completing a move from the Bundesliga to the Premier League for €18 million plus add-ons. The Red Devils were also interested in the 25-year-old.
Kalajdzic moved to Stuttgart in the summer of 2019. Since then, the 25-year-old has made 60 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 12 assists.
United have been seemingly looking for more attacking reinforcements for Erik ten Hag to count on. Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be looking for a move away from the Manchester-based club.
The Portuguese was the Red Devils’ top goalscorer in the 2021/22 campaign. Unfortunately, he was only amongst a handful of players who performed well. As a result, we failed to make it to the top four and missed out on Champions League football.
Other attacking options in the side were disappointing last season. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho failed to live up to the expectations fans had from them. Anthony Martial left the club in January and joined Sevilla on loan.
Anthony Elanga was the one who was trusted to be in the side over the other options in the previous campaign. The 20-year-old showed energy when he featured.
And the trend has continued in the new campaign. Apart from the Liverpool game at Old Trafford, our attackers have failed to make an impact.

However, Kalajdzic is someone who has suffered a lot of injuries over the years. If United had got him, his fitness would have been a question for fans. So hopefully, the Red Devils will dip in the market for other targets to bolster the forward line.
