Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is unwilling to let players go amidst Christian Pulisic to Manchester United links
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Christian Pulisic. But Thomas Tuchel isn’t keen on letting any Chelsea player leave this transfer window, considering the long season ahead.
United and Chelsea both seemingly lack attacking options at the moment. The Blues’ USMNT star isn’t happy about his lack of game time at the Stamford Bridge side. The Red Devils are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old’s situation in London.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Tuchel made his feelings known about departures from Chelsea amidst Pulisic being linked to United. The German doesn’t want his player to leave at the moment.
“Yeah, I know there is a lot of talk.
“We will not comment on our players and we will not encourage our players to go out in this moment. We’ve had two training sessions with 18 players.”
Tuchel doesn’t want his squad at Stamford Bridge to be trimmed any further than it already has this summer. The German feels that with the congested schedule of the 2022/23 campaign, every member of the team counts.
Long season ahead
With the World Cup in Qatar in the middle of the season, the football calendar has been congested. The coming months will be lethargic for teams like Chelsea and United playing in European competitions as well.
Thus, sides are looking to have larger squads for the upcoming campaign. Strength in depth is key in ensuring players are match fit. Unprecedented issues like injuries could also cause problems.
The Red Devils currently lack any experienced alternatives in the forward line. Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are the options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. They’re backed by youngsters Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho.
The first two competitive games under the Dutch manager have seen United get off to their worst start in the league for 101 years. None of our players have scored a goal in either of the fixtures.
