Fabrizio Romano: Atletico Madrid closes door on Manchester United’s pursuit of Matheus Cunha and Joao Felix
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Spanish club Atletico Madrid have closed the door on Manchester United’s pursuit of talented Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha and have also insisted that Joao Felix is not for sale.
The Red Devils have been linked heavily with a move for Cunha in recent days and it looked like talks were proceeding between the two parties. However, the Spanish club have made it clear that they will not sell the player.
Felix is another player who could be an option for Man United who at this point are desperate for strikers in general. However, Atletico Madrid have shut the door on the Portuguese star too even before anything starts.
Cunha joined the Spanish club just a season ago from Hertha Berlin and has had a decent season at the club. He was a key rotational player for Diego Simeone last season playing an important role off the bench.
The 23-year-old striker played 38 times for the Spanish giants last season scoring seven goals and providing eight assists across all competitions. The Atletico Madrid forward has also won seven caps for the Brazilian national team.
Manchester United have had a dismal transfer window. They have had a lot of positions to reinforce but have failed to sign the first-choice targets that they wanted. With not much time left, they are now struggling to find options.
