Joel Glazer adamant about keeping Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United this summer
Manchester United are against the prospect of selling Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. Joel Glazer is the one who’s adamant about keeping the Portuguese superstar, according to Manchester Evening News.
The 37-year-old is not happy at United. The club aren’t playing in the Champions League this season. And Ronaldo has been angling for a move this transfer window.
Erik ten Hag is supposedly open to the Portugal international’s departure from United. But Ronaldo is still at the club because of the will of one of our chairpersons.
The player’s agent has been looking for a way out for the 37-year-old. However, there doesn’t seem to be a team out there at the moment. So it remains to be seen where the Portugal national team captain plays after the end of the deadline day.
United signing Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo last summer was seen as a statement of intent. Fans were expecting the team to challenge for titles, but the previous campaign ended on a disappointing note.
Apart from the 37-year-old and David de Gea, none of the other players performed up to the mark last season. The Portugal international finished as our top goalscorer.
The pre-season under Ten Hag showed signs of hope. The forwards that failed to impress in the previous campaign, like Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Sancho, looked confident during the friendlies. However, the 2022/23 season has seen United lose the first two games.
Ronaldo missed the start of the pre-season under Ten Hag. The 37-year-old only returned to the team for the final friendly against Rayo Vallecano.
