Transfer News: Manchester United are interested in Moises Caicedo
According to Tom Hopkinson via mufcmpb on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are interested in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.
This is not the first time they are interested in the 20-year-old Ecuadorian. United were interested in signing the defensive midfielder in January last year, but no such move could materialise.
He ended up joining Graham Potter’s Brighton instead. And now he is of interest again to United, with a move for him being suggested before the deadline day on September 1.
Caicedo ran havoc at Old Trafford last weekend when United were beaten 2-1 by Brighton. The 20-year-old displayed such a performance that is expected from midfielders playing for a club like United.
Fred and Scott McTominay could not get worse and the need for a midfielder was highlighted. Then again last weekend, when they were trashed 4-0 by Brentford, Fred was again way below par. Christian Eriksen was no good either as his mistake led directly to a Bee goal.
United have been linked with a move for Adrien Rabiot also this summer. Personal terms are still to be agreed upon, but all parties are said to be positive about the talks. Erik ten Hag desperately needs to add new faces to his midfield or could face a very long season.
The Ten Hag era has gotten off to the worst possible start. United have lost both their games and sit at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, our neighbours are on top of the table and are likely to finish the season there.
Fans will pray rather than hope for a better performance from their team when they host Liverpool next week. With the deadline day approaching, what new faces are added to this United squad could be very interesting to see – if any.
