Some players in the Manchester United squad are tired of the ongoing saga surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo. A few members of the squad are ‘annoyed’ and ‘fed up’ with how the Portuguese is handling his future, according to The Sun (h/t Metro).

Ronaldo is still keen on leaving the Manchester-based club. The lack of Champions League football seems to have compelled the 37-year-old’s decision to part ways after just one season back at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international’s mood and attitude around the training ground has irked a few people. Part of the team feels the hierarchy should let Ronaldo leave.

But United have no intentions, it seems, of selling one of their best players of last season. The 37-year-old was the only one of the few players who performed up to the mark in the previous campaign.

Ronaldo finished the 2021/22 seasons as our top goalscorer. No other forward came close to the Portugal international’s goal tally. We ended up missing out on a top-four berth in the end.

United should let Ronaldo leave

It’s natural for a player of Ronaldo’s stature to demand more. And if the 37-year-old doesn’t want to stay, he should be allowed to leave. If the Portuguese isn’t focused on the Red Devils, how is Erik ten Hag supposed to get the best out of him?

The Dutch manager has been given a tough task as the new head in the Old Trafford dugout in the opening months. Pre-season looked good, but the Brighton & Hove Albion game revealed the same problems we had last season.

The former Ajax manager got off to a nightmare start in his first competitive game. Anthony Martial, who’d been impressive in the friendlies, missed out due to an injury. Ten Hag kept Ronaldo on the bench as he had missed most of the training sessions. In the end, Christian Eriksen started as a centre-forward.

The Portuguese came on in the second half, but we still lost 2-1 at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo stays. For now, who will Ten Hag choose as the number nine in the game against Brentford on 13 August?
