Thomas Tuchel hands Frenkie de Jong boost to Manchester United
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel handed Manchester United a huge boost in their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong revealing that a midfielder is not the priority for the Blues.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been going strong in their pursuit of the Barcelona man this summer. Both clubs are supposedly keen on signing Frenkie this summer but neither club has managed to convince the Dutchman.
Manchester United are keen on signing the Barcelona midfield superstar and have been linked with the player ever since Erik ten Hag took over as the new Red Devils manager at Old Trafford a few months ago.
However, despite Barcelona’s willingness to sell the player, it has emerged that Frenkie de Jong does not want to leave the club and in particular, is not really fascinated by a move to Manchester United next summer.
This has not deterred both these clubs in their pursuit with both clubs still going strong in wanting to sign the player. Chelsea have the better chance to sign Frenkie due to the fact that they are in the Champions League but Man United are not giving up.
Now, Thomas Tuchel has really handed Manchester United a boost in their pursuit of Frenkie by claiming that a midfielder isn’t a priority for the Blues
” If we can add, we add. Maybe not necessarily a midfielder as a first option but we’re open for everything. “
These words must be music to the ears of Man United. Erik ten Hag will be hoping Frenkie will change his mind and choose to come to play for him at Old Trafford as he looks to lead Man United to glory.
There is no denying that the 25-year-old is a very talented player and can be one of the Red Devils’ best players almost instantly. It remains to be seen if the Barcelona man chooses to come to the Premier League though.
