Manchester United are keeping tabs on Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice
Manchester United are keeping an eye on Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, according to The Athletic (h/t Express). Alongside Frenkie de Jong, the Borussia Dortmund and West Ham United midfielders are on the Red Devils’ wishlist to bolster the squad.
But United are aware that it’ll be challenging to go after either of the two in this current transfer window. The Red Devils seem keen to get the midfield stars from the German and English clubs next summer, though.
Bellingham has established himself as one of the most promising midfielders in the world. Having joined the Bundesliga giants in 2020, the 19-year-old has immediately become a key member of the Dortmund side.
The England international also boasts 15 caps for the national side. At such a young age, Bellingham is pulling his weight against world-class sides in Germany and Europe.
Rice, on the other hand, is an established Premier League player. He’s been one of the best defensive midfielders in the league for a few seasons now. The 23-year-old has also been handed the captain’s armband at West Ham.
Like Bellingham, Rice is also a regular in Gareth Southgate’s squad. But the 23-year-old has played a major role in the England XI over the years, unlike the Dortmund midfielder. The Hammers skipper started every game in the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2020 final.
United require a quality number six and number eight. Unfortunately, the current crop of midfielders in Manchester haven’t convinced fans. Rice is the more defensive option, while Bellingham has thrived in the box-to-box role.
Fred and Mctominay are decent players, but fans feel the Red Devils need to do better to compete for titles. With Paul Pogba gone, we also lack flair in the middle of the park at the moment.

While it would be a dream to get both Bellingham and Rice over the line, it’s a far-fetched idea. It remains to be seen whether United pursue and can sign any of them in the future.
