Manchester United target Renato Sanches set to join PSG
One of the midfielders on Manchester United’s radar, Renato Sanches, is set to join PSG this transfer window. The Red Devils had the Portuguese on their watch list in case a move for Frenkie de Jong fails this summer.
According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth (h/t Express), United were keeping an eye on Sanches alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves. But it seems the Old Trafford side have lost one of their choices.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter claims (h/t Express) that the Portuguese is closing in on the move to Paris Saint-Germain and reuniting with former boss Christophe Galtier at the Parc des Princes.
Sanches has had a rollercoaster of a career so far. The 24-year-old joined Bayern Munich from Benfica in 2016 after being touted as one of the best young players in the world at the time.
But playing for the German Champions didn’t prove to be an easy task. Sanches then moved to Swansea on loan for the 2017/18 campaign. But the Premier League proved to be too much for the 24-year-old.
A move to LOSC Lille turned out to be just what Sanches needed to reingite his career. The Portuguese has regained reputation back in France under Galtier in the 2020/21 season. The 24-year-old won the Ligue 1 title, having been one of the key members for Les Dogues.
Man United are currently in need of a quality box-to-box midfielder. Paul Pogba left the club at the end of the previous campaign and Sanches has all the attributes to be a world-class number eight.
We currently have Fred and Scott McTominay. The duo played the majority of last season as our pivots. Other options include Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen. But both of them are better in the number 10 role.

Man United are under threat of missing out on strengthening the team this summer. So we need to focus on other targets for now until any progress is achieved on the De Jong front.
