Manchester United centre-back Phil Jones looking for other options as DC United make offer
According to The Daily Mail via UtdPlug on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United defender Phil Jones is holding on for other clubs to make an offer amidst DC United’s proposal for the 30-year-old.
The MLS appointed Wayne Rooney as their manager earlier this summer. But Jones doesn’t seem to be keen on reuniting with the ex-Red Devil.
The 30-year-old joined the Manchester-based club back in 2011 after impressing at Blackburn Rovers. There were high expectations set on the defender and he looked good during his initial years in a red shirt.

But fans have been left disappointed by Jones’ career trajectory at United. Injuries have left the 30-year-old rueing his time on the sidelines. His most prolonged spell out saw the England national miss almost two years of first-team action.
Jones made his first start for United since January 2020 against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this year. While the match ended in a defeat, fans appreciated the shift the 30-year-old put in.
It’s been a difficult few years for Jones. United have also added reinforcements over the years. And the 30-year-old hasn’t gotten the opportunities to play regularly.

Raphael Varane signed for the Red Devils last summer in a highly anticipated move. The French centre-back was considered one of the best defenders at Real Madrid.
But the backline didn’t perform up to the mark in the previous campaign. Our other high-profile signing at the back, Harry Maguire, was shaky throughout last season. Fans felt the captain wasn’t able to lead the line.
