Hierarchy at Manchester United worried about the lack of attacking transfers this summer
High-ranking officials at Manchester United are not satisfied with the transfers the club have done this summer. The bosses feel Erik ten Hag need more attacking options going into next season, according to Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils have brought in three major additions this summer as of yet. Tyrell Malacia, Christain Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have all come through the doors at Old Trafford.
United seem to have focused more on the defensive area till now. The Dutch and Argentine signings bolster the defensive numbers in the team. Malacia and Martinez are two promising players who’ve shown their defensive abilities over the years.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof were deployed in the XI the most often in the previous campaign. The two formed a somewhat volatile partnership. The Red Devils conceded 57 goals in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season.
United ended the campaign with a goal difference of zero. We also finished with the lowest points tally in the league since the start of the PL era.
Naturally, the club have decided to bring in reinforcements for the backline. Martinez and Malacia both bring aggressiveness to the side.
Christian Eriksen is the only attack-minded signing of this window so far. But the midfielder is more adept at creating chances than scoring goals. After last season’s lackluster showings from most of our forwards, we need someone who can score goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the only attacker to live up to the mark, ending the previous campaign as United’s highest goalscorer. But the 37-year-old’s future in Manchester is uncertain.
