Transfer News: Real Madrid set to pursue Manchester United target Fabian Ruiz
According to Calcio Napoli 24 (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are keen on signing Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Napoli this summer.
Popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Spanish giants Real Madrid are also keen on signing the Spaniard, but they are looking to snap him up for free next season when Fabian Ruiz runs down his Napoli contract.
Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a huge fan of Ruiz. The Italian tactician signed him for Napoli during his time as the manager of the Italian club and he is said to be keen on reuniting with him at the Bernabeau in the future.
The fact that Man United are interested in the player and want to sign him this summer itself could throw a spanner in the works of Real Madrid’s plans. The Spanish giants could be keen on making a move in this window itself.
Fabian Ruiz is likely to be available at a bargain price this summer. His contract is expiring and it doesn’t seem like the Spaniard is too keen on renewing with the Naples-based outfit. The Italian club could look to sell him to avoid losing him for free.
Ruiz is an exceptional talent. Anyone who has seen him play will know that he is very good on the ball and has an exceptional eye for a pass. He is a mainstay in Luis Enrique’s Spanish national team and has a lot to offer.
It is said that Napoli value him at €45million but it seems unlikely that either Man United or Real Madrid will be wanting to pay that fee this summer. Both clubs will look to negotiate and reduce his transfer fee.
That Man United need reinforcements in midfield is no secret. Fabian Ruiz can add a very progressive presence to a very lateral United midfield and he could be an ideal Erik ten Hag signing for the Red Devils.
