Manchester United consider loaning out youngster, Facundo Pellistri once again
According to ESPN Uruguay (h/t The Sun), Manchester United would be planning to send out Facundo Pellistri on another season-long loan. The attacker is talented but is yet to make his name in the Red Devils’ first team.
The 19-year-old joined Man United from Peñarol in 2020, however, he spent his next two years on loan at Spanish side Deportivo Alavés. He also received six caps for the Uruguayan national team since making his debut earlier this year.
However, it was known that Pellistri was unhappy at Alavés and that would have triggered the club to look for other potential suitors. The Uruguayan failed to start a single league match in the second half of the 2021-22 season. He did appear in 34 matches but failed to score or assist a single goal.
It has been claimed that the club would look elsewhere in search of a new club. Portuguese or Italian clubs would be interested in securing his services for the upcoming season.
Pellistri did get his chance to feature in the preseason game against Liverpool. The 19-year-old showed a glimpse of his talent as he scored an impressive second-half goal against the Reds. However, he was unable to get a single minute in the next two games which would have signalled Erik Ten Hag’s intentions.
A move would make sense for the starlet as he would fall behind the pecking order at United. The Red side of Manchester have Jadon Sancho, Amad Diallo, and Anthony Elanga to play at the right-wing spot. Sancho has been particularly impressive and it looks like he would grab the starting spot in the majority of the games.
Amad Diallo was given his chance to play and Ten Hag would prefer to keep him rather than loaning him out again. Swedish attacker, Anthony Elanga would also be a smart understudy of the English winger.
