Transfer News: Nottingham Forest make an interesting offer for former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard
According to @JacobSteinberg (h/t Fabrizio Romano), new Premier League club Nottingham Forest have made an interesting offer to sign former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard but Tottenham are not in the race.
It emerged yesterday that both Forest and Tottenham are interested in signing the English attacking midfielder who left Manchester United at the end of last season after failing to renew his contract with us.
However, whilst the interest of Forest is being claimed to be true, it seems like the Tottenham rumours were not true. Romano also claims that West Ham are still leading the race to sign the 29-year-old Englishman.
Lingard’s career at Man United is a topic of debate. Whilst having spent almost his entire footballing career on the books of the Red Devils, his time at Old Trafford has had its own share of highs and lows.
Huge things were expected of Lingard during his formative years, especially during the time he was breaking into the first team. He initially managed to live up to the hype but slowly yet surely his performances started getting poorer.
After a couple of indifferent seasons after which he firmly found himself out of Man United’s first team plans, Lingard decided to take upon himself the challenge of going out on loan to West Ham and providing himself.
To say that his time at West Ham was exceptional would be an understatement. Almost immediately establishing himself as the creative fulcrum of David Moyes’ team, Lingard well and truly revived his career to the extent of even breaking into the English national team yet again.
However, opportunities came few and far upon his return to Old Trafford due to the presence of the sensational Bruno Fernandes. Now that he has left the club, it is time for Lingard to show everyone what he truly is capable of.

He can be an exceptional player for any team which instils him as their creative fulcrum and West Ham and Nottingham Forest are two teams who can do just that. It remains to be seen who Lingard chooses to go to though.
