Manchester United are keen to swap Donny van de Beek for Ismael Bennacer
According to Italian outlet CMW (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are assessing the possibility of offering Donny van de Beek in a swap deal for AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer.
Bennacer moved from Empoli to AC Milan in 2019 and has since established himself as an important member of the Rossoneri. The Algerian, who plays defensive midfielder by trade but can also play further forward, contributes significantly to the club.
The 24-year-old, who was beaten out of the team by Franck Kessie and Sandro Tonali, is apparently dissatisfied in Milan. The Serie A champions’ midfielder has played 40 games this season, making two goals and one assist in all competitions.
Now it is believed that Milan are seeking £38million to part ways with the Algerian star. However, Erik Ten Hag’s team wants to swap Donny van de Beek for the potential signing of Bennacer.
Ismael Bennacer, 24, has played plenty of football and has had a respectable career thus far. He will bring a wealth of experience to Old Trafford.
With Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic leaving the team, Manchester United will only have Fred, Scott Mctominay, and Donny van de Beek to choose from when it comes to midfield choices for the upcoming season.
Even though Bennacer seems to be a quality player, trading Van de Beek for him doesn’t seem to be a wise move right now. As we are already lacking depth, the team’s primary target should be keeping the Dutchman and signing the AC Milan star in a cash-only deal.

A number of well-known players, including Frenkie de Jong, are being linked with the Red Devils, and if he decides to sign with Old Trafford, the Dutchman will undoubtedly be a fantastic acquisition and he might be able to reignite the lethal partnership with Van de Beek from their Ajax days. But if our team sells the Dutchman, we won’t be able to encounter such a display.
