Manchester United held talks with the agent of Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic
According to Sky Germany (h/t Metro), Manchester United and the agents of Sasa Kalajdzic have held talks over a possible move in this summer transfer window.
Kalajdzic, 25, plays for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. He has scored six goals in 15 games even after missing most of the previous season due to a shoulder injury.
Apart from that, he has scored four goals for Austria at the international level, including one in extra time against Italy at Euro 2020. The striker is entering his prime and could prove to be a shrewd acquisition.
Manchester United have spoken with the 25-year-old’s representatives about the possibility of Kalajdzic joining the club at Old Trafford. The Red Devils need another striker following Edinson Cavani’s exit this summer.
It would be a favourable move for the Austrian as he also sees the Red Devil transfer as his ‘main goal’ despite attracting interest from West Ham United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton.
Kalajdzic might be the “plan B” striker that Manchester United has lacked in previous years, one who can aid in breaking tight games. Opponents feel immediately troubled because of his towering height, and Erik ten Hag may benefit from him as he has used Sebastien Haller, a 6 foot 3 inch forward wonderfully at Ajax Amsterdam.
Cristiano Ronaldo is our prime striker for Manchester United after Cavani’s departure this summer. Even though players like Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been used up front in recent years, neither of them has been able to cement a reputation as an infallible goalscorer.

Considering that Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing the end of his career, it would be wise to buy a younger striker to compete with the Portuguese international. Next season, Ronaldo will have difficulty playing every game, and United lacks depth up top.
United need choices up front regardless of whether Cristiano Ronaldo stays or leaves, and Kalajdzic is a guy who could develop into one. He is a player to watch at this early stage of the negotiations.
